Current Empties

Hello lovelies!

As I was going through and organizing the makeup (as I do quite frequently), I realized that the we've been particularly successful in the "empties" category lately. I'm one of those people that will purposely use a product until its death just for the sole purpose of using it in an empties video (or in this case, post. weird.)

But haven't we all done that at some point? Okay, maybe it's just me.

Anyways, without further ado, here comes my empties for the quite uneventful month of February, 2013.

1. Pantene Beautiful Lengths Shampoo/Conditioner

Let me just say, I am willing to try pretty much anything if it claims to make my hair longer. Ever since I was little I remember envying the girls with the longest hair in my first grade class. No matter how long it gets, in my mind it could always grow a few more inches. But with all the straightening and heat that I apply to my hair on a daily basis, it's obviously hard to achieve locks similar to those sported by the likes of stilababe09 and meghanrosette.

Now, while I will say that this shampoo did not make my hair grow exponentially overnight, it did help to reduce quite a bit of breakage and make my hair more resilient to the everyday wear-and-tear it incurs. Needless to say, I think I'll be repurchasing this one. If you have very damaged hair like me, this is a MUST.

2. L'Oreal Tangle Tamer

If any of you grew up in the 1990's, chances are you have come across this at least once in your lifetime. Let's just take a trip down memory lane because for one thing, THIS STUFF SMELLS LIKE FREAKIN' HEAVEN. If I used it when I was six, I'll use it now. Who says you have to grow up, anyway?

I love using this right after I've washed my hair, even though it is not particularly prone to tangling, it gives the hair a really nice smell and helps with any roughness you might be dealing with.

But seriously. If you've never tried it, get it.

3. Alberto VO5 Hot Oil Moisturizing Treatments

While I'm always trying to look for remedies for my damaged hair, these unfortunately didn't do the trick. Alberto V05 has been around for quite some time and frankly I have not been very impressed with their product quality and performace.

This box came with a set of two hot oil moisturizing treatments that are supposed to make the hair smoother and revitalize it. However, after using both treatments I truly feel that neither had any significant impact on my hair's appearance or vitality. All in all, sort of a disappointment, but not too big of a deal because they are fairly inexpensive.

4. Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation

While I did enjoy the consistency and (although superficial) the packaging of this product, it didn't quite meet all the hype. As someone with oily skin, I found that it didn't last me through the entire school day and by the time I arrived home I was looking in the mirror thinking "did I really look like this all day?". The product did have a nice color payoff and was quite "full-coverage", but personally did not have enough staying power.

5. L'Oreal True Magic Lumi Foundation

Now you may be asking yourself, "TWO foundation empties???". And to that I say, that yes, I am quite possibly someone you may consider a "foundation junkie". However, the rate that I go through them requires quite a bit of purchasing and creates somewhat of a vicious cycle. (I blame the acne scarring). Anyways, this foundation proved to restore my faith in drugstore face products. I quite enjoyed the lightweight consistency, yet it does give a pretty nice coverage. While I did need to use concealer afterwards, I'd say it was a hit.

6. Clear Prep FX Primer and Anti-Acne Treatment Gel

Not too much to say about this product. Sure, it did do a nice job of creating a base for foundation, but as far as the "anti-acne" claim goes, I can't say I believe it. It was a sample size, but I frankly don't think I would consider spending the full amount for a regular size, especially since this brand is on the pricier side.

7. Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro Primer

This primer, however, is definitely on my "repurchase" list. For some reason, it seems like the drugstore products are winning out in this case. Interesting. Anyways, for only $5 I found this primer to be the perfect everyday base, and the "5 in 1" quality did turn out to be quite nice.

8. Maybelline Line Stiletto Felt-Tip Liner

If you had asked me 2 months ago, I would have told you this was my go-to liquid liner. However, after finishing this tube and expanding into a couple other brands, I've found this one was just "average". While I can see how it is pretty easy for beginners to use, I definitely believe the L'Oreal Linear Intense liner is 10x better (at least for the winged liner I usually do.)

So I guess that sums it up for our VERY FIRST actual blog post! Sorry it took so long to get it up:) What would you guys like to see next? Let us know!

Jess
